Some collection Pet Sounds, Friends, Love You, Holland, Today! and Surf's Up make up my top five on any given day, with a different one of them sitting out in the cold until its turn to come back into my good (well, best) graces.

Oh, I see the topic now says 'songs' lol...so I'll list my top five favorites in that area as well:

1. Forever (DW original, NOT the remake)
2. Be With Me
3. Friends
4. Til I Die
5. Celebrate the News

Obviously I'm a huge DW fan.  Smiley

Okay top 5 for today, strictly reactionary, no weighing things out - in no particular order:

1. Fun, Fun, Fun
2. Please Let Me Wonder
3. Woudn't It Be Nice
4. Wendy
5. Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder)

If I did this again tomorrow, the results would likely be different. I know it's not "cool" to love the surf/car stuff but I really do like the '63-'66 era best.

It's not even cool to like the Beach Boys, so listen to whatever you like.... Smokin

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

3. My Diane (the Adult Child era version)

i wanna hear that!  did Brian sing it?

what all is out there in the way of Adult Child/Love You demos and tracks?
I'm a big fan of the piano demos, but I've only heard "I'll Bet He's Nice", "Still I Dream Of It", and "That Special Feeling" (love that one)...

also, what are the songs from the Cocaine/Hamburger sessions?

thanks.

The earlier recording of My Diane that I'm familiar with must have been recorded around the time of 15 Big Ones (or at least that's what I thought). The lead vocals were brilliantly handled by Dennis as well, yet the overall arrangement does seem a bit more understated than on the M.I.U. version. Still, the difference is marginal at least to my ears. Great song.

I do love That Special Feeling as well. That would have been a great closing track instead of Love Is A Woman.

As far as I know, the commonly available part of the Hamburger Sessions consisted of some pieces called Yeahhh (?), Oh Lord, City Blues, Piano, You've Been Pt. 1 + 2, I Feel So Fine and an utterly painful rendition of a song you might recognise as Heroes And Villains.
