Who's in charge of the setlists?

alrite, for some order, i'll just go by what's been released on record for each era....on the first Concert album, you think Murry had anything to do with the setlist? (he might have been fired before this, i dont know)...perhaps he's the reason why theres so many covers? or brian was being modest towards his own hits?  alright, Live in London, I doubt Brian had much to say. I'm thinking it was up to Carl & Mike mostly?   In Concert...prolly Jack Riley and Carl WIlson?  Somehow, when they became an oldies act in 76, i feel they only performed a couple from the new album and then each would have an input on a couple that they felt comfortable with...and that's the way it's been since

I think Brian had a say in the set lists in the 60s to a certain point. Afterall we know how much he influenced shows he attended like Hawaii, Michigan 66, etc.. Carl almost always had a say I am sure from the very start. Al probably some of the early folk songs or his own songs. Dennis probably his own songs. Mike more and more over the years until by 1995 it was all him basically. The Beach Boys Concert had a lot of covers so the fans wouldn't get a hits package. There were more Beach Boys songs played that were cut out.

In Concert...prolly Jack Riley and Carl WIlson?

Wasn't Jack Reily fired right after Holland? Even if he wasn't, I'm not sure he influenced setlists that much. Around that time, 1972-73, probably Carl, who was producing those albums... and maybe good old Mike?

I read somewhere that Brian (of all people) wasn't happy with the Beach Boys In Concert album. But I don't remember reading why.

that's a good call on the concert record being a hits record.  So why didnt brian like In Concert? the recording/album itself or the setlist?

I had in mind that Carl wasn't really happy about "In concert". Wasn't it because of the mixing ?
