I think this guy should be in the rock hall of fame, if only just for his Bass playing on Mrs. Robinson (listen to the left channel, its amazing....it's melodic as hell), and his piano on creeque Alley(you can hear it alot better on the original mono single mix).....anybody have any other favorite parts played by knechtel?

"Bridge Over Troubled Water" piano intro, "Guitar Man" lead guitar solo ... and when I saw Bread on the reunion tour a few years back the duet/medley he performed with the late, much-missed Jimmy Griffin ("Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "For All We Know") was the highlight of the show ...
A great man indeed ...

I didnt know he played bass on the doors self titled......I would've put that up there. That's the only Doors album I can listen all they way through though. Well, La Woman is pretty good too. But everything in between  seems to be two good singles and then 10 tracks of outdated psychedelia...

"Guitar Man" lead guitar solo ...

About which version of "Guitar man" are you talking?

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Bread's version ... apparently both Jimmy and David took a go at the lead guitar break, neither were happy with the result ... Larry said "I'll give it a go ..." and BINGO ! Wailin' Larry ...

I thought that was just a rumor. Is there even any bass guitar on the album? I know the Doors used session bass players on other albums, but I thought on the first album it was all keyboard bass, which Mr. Manzarek was playing.

 Huh
