Well, with all the Beach Boys resurgence (Smile, Pet Sounds, Brian & Al)...what are the chances of having some American Spring live action? Anyone think the Rovell sisters would be interested? I dont know if theres much of a market for it (even though I LOVE the Plus album) but they could be a great opening group for Brian's next tour...

though ofcourse, that would create a conflict of interest.  Cool Guy

Have American Spring or the Honeys ever toured?

Spring toured Japan and parts of Europe, if I recall correctly.  They also did a performance at one of the Carl Wilson benefits a few years ago.  I don't get what people see in the voices of the Rovell sisters, which I think are not on pitch and not very pleasant, but to each their own.  Ginger had a pretty good voice, though.  No, I don't think they'd ever have anything to do with Brian, especially if Melinda can help it.  I think she can sort of tolerate Marilyn when she's been forced to, but the whole Diane thing probably freaks her out, and I can't blame her, really.

Somewhere among my press cuttings I have a review of an American Spring gig that was, I think played in London, probably in the early 1980s. I think Brian was in the audience too, but might be misremembering. Wouldn't it be great if gigs like that were recorded and could be released on central.com?

The reviewer's overall tone was that you can inherit talent from your folks but you can't marry into it.

LA, not London, in 1980 - they were supporting The Surf Punks.

Blimey what a memory - and yes it was the Surf Punks. The review was in a UK music paper (Sounds? NME? Record Mirror?...) which is why I'd assumed London. Cheers Mr AGD - no doubt see you Sunday! And Tuesday?

The review was in Sounds.

See you Sunday - I'll be the one doing the Butch Cassidy impersonation.

Did the Honeys perform (by themselves, that is) at that Hollywood Bowl Beach Boys show? The one in, I think, '64? There are photos with them on stage with the guys at that show. And something was recorded because the Beach Boys' KFWB Channel 98 promo, which they performed there, survived and showed up on that surf box about 10 years ago. Does anyone know? And are there more tapes -- of anyone from this concert?

The tapes are around. Mike introduces the Honey's  before Be True, but I cannot remember if he says let's bring them BACK out or not.
