A wonderful document of a seminal tour for the band. Absolutely essential. Shame the undoctored tapes won't ever be released, they're even better.

The released album is undoctored.

Are you sure? I've heard what purports to be the "undoctored" tapes from the same show, and I hear vocal differences. Maybe stuff that was mixed properly for release? Bear in mind what I've heard are two-track mixdowns of the tapes.

Yeah, it's just the difference between an unmixed line tape and a fully mixed, EQ'd and mastered release.
I like the show that was not released even better.

Yeah, technically that's a tighter performance. And one of only two places to hear All I Want To Do live.

I love this album. Cool song selection, and I like the instrumentation of this band more than the "In Concert," synth-heavy stuff. (I like that, too, just less.) In my book, the presence of "Wake the World" makes it a good album all by itself.

A nice concert by a band in transition, but it still pales to the power of the 71-74 versions of the live show.

Wake the World live and a couple of other cuts from that era really make the album.  And the horns.

I like this concert a little more then the '64 one. The horns are great. They do a better version of Wake The World live then in studio. I like the fact they do more of the later stuff. Yeah Wake The World did it for me on this album.

I prefer the song list and the sound of the band on this album than either of the '64, '73, or '80 shows.

4 stars.

4.

My only complaint is that there aren't enough songs. That's why I didn't give it a five. I wish they'd release a deluxe edition, like they did for Live At Leeds, that thas the whole concert.

I love this album.  This beats the '64 live album by leaps and bounds.  I love the brass, and Wake the World live?!  Hell yes.  5

By the way, is the live version of Heroes and Villains that they give you for a bonus track on the 2-fer from that show, or is it from some other show?

That's from a show on 8/25/67 in Hawaii. A bad performance, but a very interesting one, mainly due to Brian Wilson's presence.

You're kidding! Shocked

They'd just like only perform those 12 songs?!?!? Jesus, I thought by the late 60's bands were doing much longer sets. I've heard in the early sixties that a band's set was about 25 minutes.

The psychedelic/heavy bands were the only ones doing long sets at that time.

"Aren't You Glad" kicks ass.  I live for those kinds of Beach Boys tunes.  We are so lucky people to have that and "Wake the World" live, in that quality.

This is my favorite BB live album.

Almost completely ruined by Mike's gay banter.  Thank God they put a leash on him for 'In Concert'.

Yes of course you do.

As for me, I listened to this album on my way to work today..  It sounded great!
My only complaint is that a lot of the songs are played so fast, they are over
before you know it.  Almost like a punk band--with talent.

I love that low-key version of Heroes and Villains.  In fact, I love all that Hawaii stuff.

The performances are interesting, but that's about it. They wouldn't be the first live disc I'd play to a recent convert. The 8/26/67 show is actually better, but it's not too commonly booted. It's passable, but still too bad for release.

I think it's rehearsal recordings I have - I love Brian singing 'The Letter'.
