RIP - Amanda Hart

Just got the terrible news this morning that Amanda Hart, who used to be a frequent poster on this board (possibly even a moderator), died this past Monday. She had a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer, IINM, and she fought it for three years. She was 38 and has a husband and young son.

I met Amanda briefly about nine years ago, when I was looking for a Pet Sounds cover I could give to a restaurant I like that has a wall with classic album covers -- Thriller, Band on the Run, the soundtracks to Easy Rider and Saturday Night Fever....but their Beach Boys representation? Wow, Great Concert! (ughghghgh!) Amanda offered me one of hers -- she said she had several and didn't mind just giving it away -- so we met up at the local Vienna Beef joint. (I found out before that we were practically neighbors -- she lived a mile up the street from me, if that!)

She kept a blog of her cancer battle, and she fought that damn illness with an amazingly positive attitude.

Cancer sucks. But if it's any consolation, cancer never wins; once its victim is claimed, it cannot survive.

Ahh I'm so sorry to hear this. Prayers for her family, I cannot imagine what they're feeling right now. While 38 is far too young, I am glad she had a life filled with this great music. RIP, Amanda.
