Interesting idea but not well executed.

I am no expert on AI by far. But instead of things like this I would love if someone would be able to remaster the sound of the lost concert with help from AI. Mainly to make Carl's guitar louder (same could be said for the '66 Michigan shows).

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Yes, using AI/machine learning to isolate/split audio recordings is a very good use of the tech.

Much different from fake vocals and fan-made lyrics and melodies.

Still waiting for a day in the life of a tree with Dennis or Brian vocals.
Instead we get stuff like this. That no one asked for.

Don't get this. Is it a joke? More than anything from Pet Sounds, sounds like the Smiley Smile "Wind Chimes" played backwards.

The thing is, even when Brian re-did "Summer Means New Love" with lyrics, it was kind of weird. But it at least made some sense musically because the original instrumental has a guitar playing the top-line melody that Brian added lyrics to 50 years later.

For this "Let's Go Away For Awhile", there is no top line melody to work from. And really, the greatest writers of this era, the Brian Wilsons, the McCartneys, etc., their ability to write those amazing top-line melodies is one of the biggest factors in what makes their music so great. So when some fan has to make that melody up, it's just not going to sound right. And, I would argue, to be frank, this track was not even good by the standards of handing such a song off to any songwriter to attempt to put a melody on it.

And then on top of that you add that new lyrics have to be written, and it just gets worse and sounds even more off.

And THEN on top of THAT we're dealing with the fake Brian AI voice model.

There's a point at which it would be seemingly almost *less* trouble/effort and much more commendable to just write a new song from scratch that pays homage to Brian.

This track is some weird hellscape between like a Beach Boys version of "The Rutles" and one of those tech bros out there on Instagram making "art" by like expanding the borders of the "Abbey Road" cover with AI.

Not to get too deep into this, but there's a lot of weird sociological stuff going on with AI "art", where I think there are some, let's say, not-artistically-inclined people (to put it politely) who think these tools "democratize" art and mean that "anybody" can be a professional-grade artist in whatever field. I kind of get it on one level. It would be kind of thrilling or fulfilling if you have little or no artistic talent, to feel like you're as talented as (fill in the name of whomever, Brian Wilson, etc.). But you can't democratize talent.

I'm not saying any given person who drops some dreadful Beach Boys "AI" track on YouTube thinks all of those things above. I think plenty of people just do it for fun, or as an experiment. But even in those cases, there often tends to be a gap between how good the person making it thinks the result is, versus what others feel. And, there seems to be at least a bit of inherent hubris, or certainly lack of artistic discernment, involved in "writing" a new melody on top of a Brian Wilson song, however much the person making it might claim it's "just for fun."
