Here is some rare footage I think Board members might find interesting:

I've often wondered how much footage like this and featuring the Beach Boys is locked away in someone's closet - never before seen.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Since this is private footage there is no telling how much and what is still in someone's closet. I woudn't be surprised if more Beach Boys footage than we already know turns up at some point.

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

The money shot is Jan Berry talking to engineer Bones Howe. Jan and Bones, along with Lanky Linstrot, worked hand in glove on Jan's productions. Great stuff. I interviewed both Bones and Lanky, and they each praised Jan as a music arranger and record producer. And both, especially Bones, emphasized how much they liked working with Jan. And like Hal Blaine, Bones also socialized with Jan outside of the studio.

Wonderful footage, showing a young Phil Sloan and Steve Barri as they appeared when working with Jan in the studio. Sloan of course became P. F. Sloan, singer-songwriter extraordinaire, and Steve Barri became a major music executive in Hollywood. And both acknowledged Jan's positive influence on their careers in my books.

Mark:

I own both of your excellent, meticulously researched, J & D books - they're incredible and I recommend them to everyone!

Thank you for all the hard work that went into producing these.

Hopefully, you're now working on others.

Thanks DSalter . . . My current project is publishing some of Jan Berry's original music scores from the 1960s, the charts from which were used by Wrecking Crew studio musicians to record the original songs.
