a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

From Wikipedia, “Lynyrd Skynyrd's fan base continued to grow rapidly throughout 1973, largely due to their opening slot on the Who's Quadrophenia tour in the United States.”
I was at the LA Forum show of this tour. 30 rows from the stage.
Anyway, Skynard was doing their set and getting booed, “we want The Who”.
At the end of their set, they started F”ree Burd” with Gary playing that epic slide lead guitar part.
The place went nuts. It was, “oh, your ‘that’ band’. Great memories.
And yes, The Who were amazing!!!
