Founding Box Tops bassist Bill Cunningham added these startling color shots of Carl and Al on tour circa August 1968 to Facebook. The one of Carl in full-blown Chuck Berry axe mode was taken by "Cry Like a Baby" guitarist and fellow Box Tops bandmate Gary Talley. Unsure if they have been seen before.

I've ssen those too as posted by Bill on Facebook. I also posted the link to Ian's Beach Boys Gigs site in case they have more pictures they would like to share or just for checking out the website.
I think that at least the picture of Carl and Al backstage is well known though. Wasn't that one even in the 15 Big Ones gatefold?

I didn't know that Telecasters had a "whammy bar".


The standard Tele does not have a Bigsby. But yes, a model with a Bigsby did exist although not too many were made:
