This is a really cool (IMO) video by a musician named Ali Spagnola, from her YouTube channel, showing exactly what the title describes. She re-imagines Billie's hit "Bad Guy" as a classic Beach Boys style surf track, complete with all the signature sounds and production elements. Her channel has a lot of similar "What If?" music videos and production breakdowns showing mash-ups of various songs, genres, and artists. Musicians have been doing this forever, but with YouTube it's become sort of a sub-genre and with Ali's videos she often shows how she produced and recorded the songs and how everything went together, which is always fascinating to watch. And for anyone not as into the recording/production aspects of the music, a video like this is a great demonstration of how these signature sounds can be replicated and created on not much more than a laptop and a recording interface, and it also shows what goes into making a multitrack recording and a final mix in this realm.
Ali does a great job here, it's worth checking out and hitting the like/subscribe button!
