For a long time I've been thinking about getting a Beach Boys tattoo, but I can't think of what exactly I should get, so I was hoping anyone here might have some good suggestions...

This is a picture of three of the tattoos I already have:

So it should be something in roughly the same style (colorful, thick lines, almost comic style)... And I definately don't want faces of the BB themselves or text, because I want a tattoo that is BB related but can also stand on it's own... It must be BB related but still look cool to someone who doesn't know that it is BB related.

The only option I have so far is the Brother Records indian (especially the one on the cover of the Brother Years compilation), but I'm not really sure about that one.

I know I'm making this very complicated, but any good suggestions would be very welcome. Smiley

here are a few ideas...

I know you didnt want any of the faces, but how about just Brian from this picture

have him to the right of the angel leaning towards her?

I like that a lot, tho it might be a bit too "sad"...

An image of Brian or the Beach Boys boys is definately not an option. I'm looking for something more symbolic.

The Surf's Up indian is a pretty cool imagine, but I'm affraid it'd be too much of a dark stain. I'm looking for something a bit more comic like.

But thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate it. Smiley

Put a version of this on your body:

         or alternately:

or this:     or this:

or this:      or one of my favorites:

or:      or this:

or Bri and Margarita:      armed with carrots:

or:

Just a few ideas. Some good, some not so good.

@JScott: Wow, where did you get those pictures? Very nice !

What about the "original" Smile-Cover by Frank Holmes?

I did a yahoo search for "Heroes and Villains" and found a web site with all those stills from a flash video.

Some of these pictures are pretty interesting. Especially the Surf's Up indian and the Smile sun... I'll keep looking but I'll definately keep these in mind. Thanks!

How about the Bee of the Wild Honey cover, a little different and no-one except a fan of the Beach Boys would know what it was...?

Why don't you get a tattoo of a surfboard or a sunflower? That's symbolic right?

Personally, I think the Brother Records Indian would be pretty cool.

I actually considered that as well. Only downside is that Wild Honey is one of my least favorite BB albums. It's still one of the options thought.

Yeah, the Brother indian is definately the best option so far. Both the one from the logo and the one from the Best Of The Brother Years comp.

A surfboard wouldn't be a good idea since I'm not a surfer... The sunflower would've been great it there would've been a recognizable, unique sunflower on the album cover instead of a very generic one...

Thanks for the suggestions.

The Indian seems to fit in very nicely with your already existing tatoos.

I think the first one is the coolest but only if you got a sun shining on him like on the cover. Otherwise I probably would take one of the last two.

I made this design... I think this is gonna be it. The music notes are from page 3 of the Pet Sounds sessions box set booklet ("I may not always love you" from God Only Knows), the sun is from BWPS, obviously.

That sun is also on the sleeve of the All Summer Long LP, by the way.

but a good tip for great tattoos that most artists cant screwup too much are the tour tee shirt designs
my leg was from the 82 US summer tour t-shirt
my foot was free hand drawn by a great tattoo artist, ( just got it colored in so I wll post pics when it is done healing)
ps tattoos on your feet dont feel good AT ALL!!!
