Always a joy hearing your end-of-the-world enthusiasm for this stuff Howie, it crystallises so much of what of what I love about their music and brings me back to it with a fresh perspective. You're doing some great things.

On why Mike never wrote with Carl -- here's Mike in Melody Maker, December 1974:

"There's a Carl song, 'Don't Let Me Go', which I wrote the lyrics to; 'Like a ship on the ocean/That finally reaches shore/After seeming ceaseless motion/Welcome home with great emotion/ Thank you for your love and devotion.'"

You should read him that and see if it brings back anything. Or, when you get to it, audition a string of those no-title Carl backing tracks from '74-'75.

I love Howie's insights in this interview, especially the part about the BBs having been reduced to certain negative stereotypes in the later years and how this set counters that perception.

I also loved the comparison of Dennis to a 20-sided dice.
