I was aware that in the early nineties, The Beach Boys minus Brian visited México, I even remember seeing them on the tv playing in some cheap variety shows. But I did not remember this horrible Mariachi crossover called Acapulco Girls (just California Girls with even more cheesy lyrics). Man that’s sad!🤦🏻

The reporter talking about music that’s “perfect for beach parties” with a facial expression that looks like he should be reporting on a tragic accident is amazing.

Ahh yes, Mike Love's vision of the Beach Boys has come to fruition and has, at the same time, hit a new low much further down than anyone could have imagined. Good job ASSHOLE!!  Evil Evil Evil Evil

It's true. The fucking asshole known as Mike Love singlehandedly destroyed the Beach Boys music and image with this piece of fecal matter.

This song was recorded and released back in the late 90's.  Mike and Bruce were probably most likely asked to appear on the track rather than it being their idea.  Pretty sure the band's legacy wasn't really tarnished over this song.  🤷‍♂️

This actually got some airplay in 1998 and I always thought it was a delightful track.  I'm not sure who exactly from The Beach Boys participates.  My understanding was that this is a Bruce Johnston project.  I don't hear Mike at all.  Bruce can be heard in the mix but I'm not sure who else.

I actually have this CD (sadly due to being a completist).  I just went through the liner notes and all references are simply listed as "the Beach Boys" and it doesn't break out who actually participated.  Brian and Mike are credited as writers for California Girls.  FYI- this CD also includes Kokomo by Mariachi Sol de Mexico y The Beach Boys.

Please tell me that is the "Beach Boys" dressed up as a mariachi band on the cover. Mikey Luv is shameless. It is a testament to the genius of BW that the Band has survived decades of his buffoonery.
