California Saga's single mix is pretty readily available on Spotify as part of Best of the Brother Years

https://open.spotify.com/track/0lWLhsB8FT7wRpjfucDmaq?si=5712f3436cc54d52

Is it? I tried this, but all I still here is the album version. And Spotify seems to agree, showing the Holland cover.

Definitely the single version with Brian's extra vocals during the first verse - and Spotify's showing the Brother Years cover too. Maybe some odd geoblocking stuff with Spotify?

Maybe, that’s the only thing that makes sense to me,

As an aside (and I guess stating the bleeding obvious), the Single version is on multiple CD releases since the turn of the century.

Could you name one, other than Ten Years of Harmony IIRC, because I need to make a purchase then.

OK. My bad - yeah it's very rare.

I can't believe that they didn't use the Single version on anything really since that Greatest Hits package of 2000. Sounds of Summer, 50 Big Ones, MIC all the LP version.

You mention the Ten Years of Harmony comp, which goes back 40 years now, but was re-issued in Japan in 2020. -> https://www.amazon.com/Years-Harmony-Paper-Sleeve-UHQCD/dp/B08CPDLSHK

(and that makes 2, so I'm off the hook !?) Wink

A great compilation (with what is probably the best and most beautiful artwork on any Beach Boys album ever)! Only downside that there's no Dennis track on it.
It also features the single versions of "Rock and Roll Music", "It's OK" and "Here comes the Night". Not sure about "Susie Cincinnati", that one may be the 15 Big Ones album mix. IIRC though there are different version of this compilation with slightly different tracklists.

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

On my copy it lists Susie Cincinnati as the original single version. I didn't think Here Comes the Night was on there though?
