Here is this big ol dump of Brian Wilson footage for a documentary. Does anyone know what this is from or what this is for? In the meantime, enjoy an almost movie length trove of Brianisms.

Possibly done for the documentary Rodney Bingenheimer Mayor of Sunset Strip which came out in 2003?

Seems to date from a time right before Brian released Imagination which would be June 1998.

Many Brianisms, yes, but it's amazing how much better Brian was doing in that period compared to ~3 years earlier in that interview from the Soul Searchin' era sessions... when he was a mess of tics, spasms and general turmoil.   All the credit in the world to Melinda and his doctors for getting him into a much better place between '95 and '98.

Notice how he changed (in a good way) as soon as the interview part was over. You saw the real Brian come out

Yes, this is associated with the Bingenheimer/Mayor of Sunset Strip doc; an excerpt of the Costello-Wilson meeting had been included on the DVD of the documentary, but only about 10 minutes or so.  This is a good find; even the few minutes that had been on the DVD were interesting and at times, revealing, including, for example, Brian talking about Imagination in terms of wanting a "hit" and then Costello asking, "but what do you think of the album as music?"

Thanks for the heads-up on this.
