It says so on the back cover of the 1987 CD release that it's in "stereo", but the compilers could've just pulled out a duophonic mix for transferring instead, judging by other errors present on this release (Surfin' USA in mono, wrong versions of Help Me, Rhonda and Barbara Ann).

It's just a duophonic mix or something similar.  A true stereo mix didn't exist at the time (I'm not even sure if the vocal multitracks from Columbia had been returned to BRI by 1987).
