Hi everyone,
I will be getting married on July 18th and was just curious how others on this board have incorporated our favorite band into their big days.

I am obviously a HUGE fan and even though they aren't entirely my fiancee's cup of tea, she's given me the go-ahead to have a sizeable amount of our reception songs by them, as well as a lot on our pre-wedding playlist.

For that, songs by our boys include:
"Chapel of Love"
"I Do"
"We'll Run Away"
"Strange World"

And, for the reception:
"Surfer Girl"
"Don't Worry Baby"
"Do You Wanna Dance?"
"Dance, Dance, Dance"
"God Only Knows"
"Marcella"
"In The Still Of The Night"
"Let's Put Our Hearts Together"
"Good Timin'"
"Where I Belong"
"I Do Love You"

I can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts and stories from their own special day!

Congratulations!

We're due to be wed October 10th and our wedding party will be singing my arrangement of "God Only Knows" in the ceremony. We have a Beatles Tribute Band doing a blend of music (but Beatle heavy- sans costumes) for the reception, and there will surely be Beach Boys in there.

How has this Coronavirus Mess impacted your plans thus far? We'll be sending invitations out 'round about the time of your date and am honestly quite concerned about a second wave in the back of our minds this fall...

My wife and I sang "I do" at our wedding, with our bridal party doing backing vocals. Not a triumph but fun enough.

I just wish "Only with You" had gotten in there somewhere but I hadn't bought the "Passions/Holland" twofer at that stage.

Thank you! Congratulations to you, as well. That's pretty awesome. Especially to be doing your own arrangement!

So far, we aren't too affected. The pastor has talked about making our guests wear masks and having them and the wedding party be 6ft apart. I'm in central Pennsylvania and my county was part of the first round of counties to move to the yellow phase, so hopefully all will be settled before the wedding.

I will definitely keep my fingers crossed that yours can go off without a hitch!

That's pretty cool. I love to hear that other people pull in these obscure, but amazing tracks. I'm sure it was a good time! We plan on doing "Summer Nights" from Grease with our wedding parties at the reception.

I hadn't mentioned it above, we're doing three "first dance" songs, one my pick, one hers, and one together pick. Mine actually is "Only With You," but with the tag from Dennis' version spliced on at the end.

It’s been discussed here before, but some random guest was asked to sing a tune, we think at a wedding reception. Unfortunately he’s no longer available mores the pity.

https://youtu.be/yAAKG-hKdhM

Anyway, ‘God Only Knows’ would be my number one wedding song. Congratulations!

We had God Only Knows sung at our wedding by my wife’s brother and his wife.

22 years later, they still haven’t forgiven us.

Congratulations! 27 years ago, I sang Surfer Song to my wife, backed by our wedding band. Not the greatest performance ever, but it brought the house down, and our band was super cool about it...they asked me to sing it to her and front the band. Hope your band is as cool....you should ask if you don't have the greatest vocal chops.

My hubby used to deejay weddings, parties, etc. in the days before everything went digital. At one of his gigs, the bride and groom had their first dance to "Forever." Yes, they'd first heard the song on Full House, but he played the BB's original for them.

That's really neat and so cool of the band.

We don't have a band, just a DJ, who is a friend of ours and offered to do it for $25.

I'm actually really good, overall, but it goes downhill quickly when I get in front of people. We were supposed to be going to karaoke bars/nights to work on lessening my stage fright before the wedding... obviously, unfortunately hasn't been able to happen.

As it should be! Rock!

Just for fun, since everyone is posting about public performances, here is how the proposal went down!

Congrats!
Unfortunately I had no Beach Boys music at my wedding, but someday I'm definitely going to pre-plan my Beach Boys funeral set list, so I can go out with a bang!

Ahem, back to wedding song ideas...

Devoted To You
There's No Other Like My Baby

And if your bride has a sense of humor, may I suggest...

Monkey's Uncle
"A bride, a groom, a chimpanzee!"
(Great to get everybody dancing, who could resist?! Also would make a funny photo opp, if you have an acceptable plush monkey available.)

Best wishes for your wedding day & your joint adventure in life!

My wife and I got married on April Fool's Day so we left the church to "Why Do Fools Fall In Love".

Our venue tables were named after our favourite albums so the top wedding party table was "Pet Sounds"

Our first dance was "Wouldn't it Be Nice"

Um... Cabinessence?
I mean, thats an absolutely incredible track, but it doesn’t really scream wedding.

Agreed about Cabinessence and its role in a wedding, guessing it was a joke.

I eagerly await my invitation in the mail.

My mother/son dance was "When I Grow Up (To Be a Man)." After all, she was responsible for introducing me to the Beach Boys.

And congratulations to the OP and the rest of the soon-to-be newlyweds. Soak it all in, because the day goes so fast!

Congrats!!

Here's the wedding program for my wedding in 2016.
I chose a duo that could be able to handle BB songs. (The guitarist was familiar with Pet Sounds and greatest hits)

God Only Knows
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i12zc9oEaBQ
We told the band to be closer to  Leid In Hawaii version than Pet Sounds version. Walking down to the podium during the intro being repeated, when in place they began singing the verse.

I Can Hear Music
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIWwjSW31LY
One of the few love songs with positive love message only!

Forever
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u95BGZEG_KA

Only With You
https://youtu.be/zn9yiXuGls0
This is where I surprised my bride. We had planned all the songs together but she had no idea that I would sing!

Also: We used a slightly sped up version of Disney Girls for our waltz.
