I'm pleased to announce a new video now on YouTube for the beloved classic hit 'When I Grow Up To Be A Man'. I hope you will enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it.

When I Grow Up To Be A Man:    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eh6m2UC80H0

I see mine is the second 'Today!' based video of the night after aeijtzsche's impressively studious analysis of 'Don't Hurt My Little Sister'. Weird coincidence, but such a wonderful album to celebrate; truly one of their very best I think.

Another winner!
And how fitting since aeijtzsche mentioned that the next song she will analyze is "When I grow up"

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Coming right up, yes.  Two very different ways of engaging with a song!

It's funny, but when making these videos that I do, I invariably develop a much deeper appreciation of the song and the artistry and  intricacies of the record making. You might expect that after listening to a piece of music literally hundreds of times that I'd get sick of it, but that's not what happens with me. You begin to hear the song on a molecular level and it's a different kind of listening experience.

Wonderfully done. I love the illustrations. This was my mother-son dance song at my wedding.
