I'm not sure how many of you authors still read this board, but I'm hoping some still do.
As I work on transcriptions for my videos and whatnot, I'm stuck anew by how great it would be for my work to benefit more people than the immediate ambit of this board. I have from time to time put forward the idea of trying to publish a book of Beach Boys scores, but this time I have a lot of work done and have a very clear idea of the right way to do it. But does anybody have any connections to publishers? It's an issue with publishing full scores because of the music copyrights and all that, so it'd have to be in coöperation with BRI (and indeed I wouldn't have it any other way.)
Incidentally, what I am envisioning is a lavish book, with selected full scores from the band's most interesting arrangements, stories behind the recordings, some wrecking crew stuff, some sessionography, etc.
In any case, I think that a book of scores from one of the most creative pop arrangers of all time would have some value. Any advice?

Sounds like a wonderful idea, JH. It would be a shame to let all your transcription work go unseen (not that we don't appreciate the fruits of it round here, and elsewhere).
I'm sure there are enough score-readers in the world (BB fans and non-fans alike) who would leap at the opportunity to examine work by a pop arranger of Brian's calibre, and learn more about how it came about.
In a just world, publishers would be queueing at your door, so to speak. If no authors chime in soon, I would definitely message Stephen Desper, as someone with a broad view of all aspects of The Beach Boys' world and how it works. This project has to happen!

An obvious idea of home for a notation book is some company under the Hal Leonard umbrella, but what would be the economics for you.
Like, I've bought their Duck Dunn book - format larger than LF, up to 50 pages of text about his career, instruments, photos, etc., the rest is the notation; looks terrific. (More or less what you wished for your book, except there's just notation and not scores.) The retail price is less than $8 for the book (as stated on the cover) + whatever for the audio (roughly 2 times more than the book). Obviously the cost of the book is sponsored by the income from audio , but to what degree.

Josh, you should reach out to Philip Lambert who wrote a fantastic music-theory focused book on Brian a few years ago.
