I sure do miss Carl. This 1973 interview with Bob Harris is short, but wonderful. Two lovely soft-spoken gentlemen having a thoughtful conversation. It's interesting to note the spectre of SMiLE still in the air.

Some of our forum members suffer from an acute form of cynicism resulting in a complete lack of patience and manners in the face of anything joyful or optimistic. Try to humor them as best you can for the time being, and one day, with your help, we will find a cure for this devastating disease. This has been a public service announcement.

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Thoughtful is the word! You'll notice the only time Carl is quick to say something is when Harris is attempting to wind it up, and it appears he's suddenly realised he's given the wrong impression about the likelihood of any of the members doing other things... and "manifest" is a fun choice of word. Thanks for the link.
