It's weird how BRI / Capitol / Universal let stuff like this get released and do nothing about it, while themselves couldn't be bothered to release a single note from the Summer Days sessions in 2015.

I suppose the question they have to ask themselves is, "is it worth the trouble to put something out ourselves" - considering how few people will actually pay money for it

Possibly, yes, but in that same year (2015) they put out 2 CD's worth of Party! session material. So I just wonder what makes three mockery versions of Laugh At Me more saleable than something like the backing track of The Little Girl I Once Knew, or Sandy, a song that is still officially unreleased in its original form.

The "Copyright Extension" sets are first and foremost about protecting material that needs to be protected for copyright purposes, and then when they can they add extra stuff. Everything on that "Summer Days" comp was/is already protected.

I'm all for a total dump of the vaults for fans to buy/stream, etc., but they've released a good amount of stuff under the auspices of "Copyright Extension", especially in 2017 and 2018 with new management and whatnot.

That item being sold on that website from Japan is obviously not legit. It would be more consistent and fair to see BRI pursue those companies and websites selling that stuff the same way they pursue having stuff yanked off of YouTube and eBay, etc. But who knows, maybe they are?

I don't think they could actually purse these non-official releases, because, uh, they seem to be completely legal in Japan.

I'm no expert on domestic copyright law, but it seems any recordings recorded before 1968 are now out of copyright here.

They're even selling non-official copies of Beatles' bootlegs on stores like Amazon (and other "legitimate" record stores) and getting away with it.

If this were twenty years ago, BRI would have sent the freakin' mob after them.

I wonder if it's just a comp of the most "complete" takes from the SOT boot Huh
