I don't get why Mike or Brian or Al cover old BB songs they already sang lead on Huh

Personally, I like Mike's choice of Rockaway Beach for his latest album and California Beach fits as well.
Anyway,  in similar vein, for a new summer album, I nominate . . .  . .

'65 Love Affair by Paul Davis - do-wop do-wop ditty wop do . . .

PS  Paul Davis has several BB -esk tunes.   Love, or Let be be Lonely . . another possibility.

One Fine Day by the Chiffons, only cover it "Then I Kissed Her" style where they change the sexes around.

But I think Al and Brian dueting on this would be friggin cool.

God must’ve smiled the day Brian Wilson was born!

I think Steve Miller’s Rock n Me would be a good cover for Mike, the singing style and lyrics are pure Love. I would also like to hear Mike’s vocal delivery on a cover of Reunion’s Life Is a Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me), that would be interesting.
