Seems this book is never discussed in these forums.  Just wondering about the apparent oversight.

Not very well written, edited or proofed.

Some good interviews. I liked how he pointed out the merits of P.O.B. compared to the Beach Boys late 70s work. If Stebbins' book didn't exist it would be rated much higher by me. Jon simply did a better job.

But apart from that, Mrs Lincoln...?

This book feels more like a series of essays put together.  Parts of it are interesting, and I disagree with AGD in that some of it is nicely written and evocative.  It seems a bit scrappy, though.  I get annoyed with books that have only b&w photos - it feels unfinished.

Jon's is the superior book, IMO.  I once told him this and he very unselfishly spoke kindly about Webb's effort.

There are bits and pieces of this book which do add something to the understanding of the man who was Dennis Wilson.

It's not a bad book by any means. Most annoying though are the simple typos.
One other thing I don't like is Webb's insistence that Dennis' return to the drums
in late '74 is what "killed" him as an artist.  His opinion, of course, but clearly with
the impending emergence of "POB", this wasn't the case...
