The lead on "Help Me, Rhonda" was handled by Al, Dennis and Carl at various times.
"Sail On, Sailor" has had Blondie, Billy and Carl on lead.

Brian sang "Good Timin'" in his solo shows, and I seem to remember David Marks singing it in Milwaukee in 2012.

This Easter Seals "Good Timin'" clip, and speculation as to why in the world they'd have Mike singing it with Carl standing right there, was discussed in a previous thread:

http://smileysmile.net/board/index.php/topic,26174.0.html

The Easter Seals clip was around years ago on YouTube (and of course had been floating around on VHS since it aired), then disappeared for a number of years, and then somebody put it back up last year thankfully.

As for alternate leads, I don't recall that David Marks sang the song in 2012 (we did a pretty exhaustive sort of polling of C50 attendees back then and determined reports of him taking the lead on "Wendy" were inaccurate, and that he never sang anything other than "Hawaii" and "Getcha Back"), but when they did it on C50, Brian sang the verses and Al sang the choruses. So Bruce is the only of the "core six" members that hasn't been heard singing the song.

As for other songs with multiple lead vocalists over the years, most of the "core" hits have been sung by Mike, Brian, and Al in their respective bands. We've also heard at least three vocalists on stuff like "Here Today", as Al has taken over the lead on that one at Brian's shows.

Again if we include solo tours, we have examples of Carl, Matt, and Blondie singing "Wild Honey."

Carl, Brian, Mike, and Al have all taken portions of "Wouldn't It Be Nice" and "Sloop John B" over the years. Matt Jardine and Foskett have also added portions to WIBN.

Carl, Brian, and Matt have all taken "Surf's Up."

The more rare occurrence would be finding examples of at least *four* different lead vocalists. Bruce on occasion did sing "God Only Knows", and if we include Al sharing the lead with Matt and Adam on part of the song at "Family & Friends" shows, then we have Brian, Carl, Bruce, and Al having sang that one.

In recent years, Mike has also taken over the lead on "Rhonda" at his shows (and he also kinda hogged the lead at shows circa 1980).

"Sail on Sailor" has also been sung by Bobby Figueroa at BB shows (in 1981). (Billy and Bobby usually shared the lead at Al's "Family & Friends" shows in 1998-2000; also at some Al shows his sometimes-drummer Stevie Heger has taken the lead on that one.)

Slightly off topic, but as for David Marks' leads on C50... he sang "Hawaii" and "Do You Wanna Dance" at Merriweather on 6/15.

I recall him singing "Getcha Back" and "Good Timing" at later dates, but I only attended Merriweather.

Mike sang it cause they wanted to feature their new single but mike needed to do something and if carl sang it then they also were doing good vibrations then it would be a total carl-fest and mike was having none of that so the comprimise was to do the single but w/ mike and then give it over to carl for vibrations/ this has to be it

Have any recordings surfaced of him singing "Good Timin'" or "Do You Wanna Dance" on C50?

We did a sort of post-mortem on the C50 tour after a bunch of different reports about songs Dave may have sung at shows, and Jon Stebbins seemed to have reached the conclusion that Dave only sang "Hawaii" and "Getcha Back." He mentioned that Dave sang "Do You Wanna Dance" at early rehearsals for C50, but then Brian took it over.

http://smileysmile.net/board/index.php/topic,15084.msg347906.html#msg347906

I've heard recordings both before and after the 6/15/12 show, and every version I've heard has Brian singing "Do You Wanna Dance." There are clips of 6/15 on YouTube, but apparently not that song.

I believe on other tours, including random stints with Mike's band, Dave has taken the lead on "Do You Wanna Dance." Not sure on "Good Timin'."

I know Dave took some other leads on random gigs with Brian and Al in 2013. He of course did "Little Bird" at most shows, but I recall that he sang "Forever" at just a show or two. I'm wondering if maybe he has sung "Good Timin'" with Brian or Mike's band, and I'm wondering if he ever took "Do You Wanna Dance" over on that 2013 tour with Brian and Al.

Nah, there have been other TV or promotional gigs where Mike doesn't sing a lead, or sings few. Plus, Mike sang "Surfin' USA" during that same short set for Easter Seals. He ended up getting 2 and 1/2 of the three leads for that gig.

I think the general consensus when we hashed this out previously was that, at the time, Dennis was singing "Good Timin'" at live shows and Carl was doing the falsetto parts, and Dennis was absent from the Easter Seals gig, so Mike was essentially "filling in for Dennis" on that lead.

Eventually, they just gave up and had Carl sing the lead and Bobby Figueroa would do his best on the falsetto part.

I don't have any clips of DYWD from 6/15/12 nor can I seem to find any, but I was 2nd row dead center in between David and Mike and watched David sing it. I know, it isn't "proof"...but I have zero doubt, take it for what it's worth.

As for "Good Timing", I have  only heard  that one time...my first Beach Boys concert July 2010 (Mike and Bruce)...with a lead vocalist that has NOT been mentioned yet on this thread...….STAMOS!  LOL

I suspect there is some confusion here between DYWTD and Hawaii for that show.

DYWTD wasn’t on the setlist.

Hawaii, Dave did sing. (2.00 in) edit: Wrong clip linked to the 2012 story.
(Edit to the edit: That link was actually mine....someone wanting any clip of Dave singing it )

Dave has seemed to often, especially in appearances with Mike's band, taken leads that Stamos tends to sing (or vice versa depending on how you look at it), as they've both taken leads on "Good Timin'", "Do You Wanna Dance", and "Forever."

Regarding "Do You Wanna Dance" on C50, is it possible Dave sang it while Brian also sang it? I've seen a few cases where a Brian lead is handed over to someone else, and then Brian just goes on automatic and still sings it (I watched Brian and Al *both* sing "Little Deuce Coupe" in unintended unison on opening night of the 2015 tour!).

Here's an interesting bit that makes Dave having randomly sung "Do You Wanna Dance" on C50 more understandable:

Previously, my main skepticism came from Brian having sang "DYWD" at C50 shows both before and after that 6/15 show. Also, there *were* several erroneous reports of Dave leads from earlier in the tour.

However, we know at some point that Dave moved from singing "Hawaii" to the band adding "Getcha Back" and Dave singing that one instead (with Mike taking over the lead on "Hawaii").

What's the first date that included "Getcha Back" on C50? June 16th! The very next day after the Merriweather gig. I'm wondering if they considered shifting Dave to sing "Do You Wanna Dance", but either because maybe Brian "oversang" him, or for some other reason, they quickly shifted to adding "Getcha Back" and having Dave sing that.

All of which makes me wonder if the switcheroos started because Mike wanted to sing "Hawaii" again? Who knows.

AH! Now it does seem to make sense...and yes, it is very possible that they doubled the lead (intentionally or not)...I wish someone had filmed it!
