I just came across a photo of Denny, where he seems to be wearing the same (?) or a very similar psychedelic shirt that Brian wore during the SMiLE era.

This got me thinking, how many other instances do we know of BBs band members sharing outfits, either by wearing the exact same duplicate outfit that another member wore, or by actually wearing the specific garment belonging to the other member?

-Obviously during the striped shirt and matching white suit eras, there were all sorts of duplicate outfits involved.

-During 2012, Mike, Brian and David (if memory serves) wore identical duplicate paisley shirts from time to time.

- The earliest known (?) photograph of the band performing live, from the Bel Air Bay Club in 1962, has David wearing Al's actual suit which was several sizes too big

I'm pretty sure those are different shirts.

I think you're probably right, although they're super close!
I wonder if Brian kept any of his trippy clothes from this era.

The bellagio yard sale after Brian’s divorce must have been epic!

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

the early striped shirt period has already been mentioned, but don't forget the earlier (and obvious) woolen Pendleton shirt time, circa surfin safari

For 2012, wasn't Mike's wife picking out the wardrobe? They all seemed to be working from the same pool of shirts, so they seemed to sometimes inadvertently (or purposefully?) wear the same thing, like the GMA TV appearance:

..And the Grammy Museum thing also from 2012:

There is also of course the already-infamous "shirtgate" episode from last year's SiriusXM event:

Circa 1977, some of the guys wore those matching jackets:

Carl isn't signing on for the jackets in this photo, though his jumpsuit isn't his most flattering look either.

Dennis is the only one in this picture that doesn't look like a dork.

Some of those jackets resurfaced years later at auction apparently:

Some obvious examples, but not technically "striped shirts" or white shirts:

Thankfully they did not all wear matching versions of this outfit:

Is this Dennis on Hallowe'en 1970 wearing Brian's coat from the Pet Sounds shoot?

That shot of Al is amazing, with him embracing the typically "hidden" apple crate boost that actors like Don Adams on Get Smart would have hidden to make themselves look taller onscreen.

Definitely not a good look for Carl. I have to think at a certain point (maybe early on in the band's career?) some of the members, like Carl for instance, must have just checked their vanity at the door and said "screw it", because there were probably way too many photo shoots they had to do for them to get too worried about how bad that an unflattering outfit might make them look in a given shot.

What I'd like to know is why is Carl wearing one glove in that picture?  Was he working on someone's car right before this photo was taken?

I'd also love to know how much that jacket of Brian's went for at auction.  Could you imagine owning that?!

Re: Al on the crate; I figure Al was plenty used to it. They actually had a functional reason for doing this during vocal sessions:

I've never heard he had any complex about his height, which I've always found refreshing.

Re: Carl and his outfit and glove, the only thing I can think of is that it's some sort of get-up for driving or something. Did Carl ride motorcycles a lot by this era in 1977?

Here's another 1977 shot with Carl wearing the same thing:

Here's are a few 1976 or 77 shots with Carl wearing the same type of suit, only a different color:

Another photo shoot:

Back to the lighter color one, this time in what appears to be a rehearsal:

And more shots back from that same '77 photo shoot:

I WANT THAT JACKET. Somebody should make replicas.
