And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

From Brian on Facebook:

“I’m sad to hear about Peter Tork passing. I thought The Monkees were great and Peter will be missed. Love & mercy to Peter’s family, friends and fans.”

I'm gutted...Since Christmas I've been listening to The Monkees more than perhaps any other artist, reconnecting with how much that music means to me. I had a bad feeling Peter wasn't in good health since he had not been in the public eye very much in recent times. And now it's confirmed.

RIP Peter, you brought a lot of joy to people, and that's worth everything.

Yes, I had listened to Micky on Gilbert Gottfried's podcast and his tone when discussing Peter made me thing that something was definitely going on.

Love The Monkees - Peter was a valuable part of the team, both on the TV show and when they started to active record their own music.

My god, what sad news. I followed The Monkees' career (admittedly at a distance) from the very start. So Peter's face was very familiar indeed. May he rest in peace.

When The Monkees was on TV Peter was my favorite. He seemed the loveable goof ball. Later found out that he had a definite wild side!

Just played their song "Shades of Gray" which features a rare Peter solo.
RIP.

Very sorry to hear this. I'll always be grateful to Peter Tork for his surprise appearance at one of the CWF events:

Peter is the best of the bunch, glad to see he's your favorite too. They usually pick Nesmith. But Peter's really likeable & fun. Talented to boot, actually his Monkees songs would be few songs I cared about in Monkees' albums, save few by different writers. Peter should be given praises.

I met 3 of them - Micky, Davy and Peter. I could have met Mike if i'd coughed up an extra $50. Mike is all about himself; Peter, on the other hand, was very kind, generous. Making music was his life. Saw him with Shoe Suede Blues back in 2001, loved the show. Amazing musicians.
