I want to ask about this disc because it has been discussed somewhat but what I was really wondering was if the HCTN on the disc really is the long disco version, the LP cut, or the 45 mix.

The reason I ask is that I noticed several Greatest Hits comps coming from the UK and Japan just a year or so after the release of the boxset had the 45 mix of HCTN on them and the boxset was the source for many of the other tracks on the comps (with the first two notes missing from Cottonfields like the boxset mix, etc.).

Thanks,

Bob Flory

I've not played it for a good few years, but I'm almost certain it's the album mix, despite the fact that the CD sleeve says otherwise.

So was this disc put together by EMI in the UK or by Mark, David & company FOR the UK market?

I have the UK version as well, and on my "Special Bonus cd" the 12'' version is mentioned. Listening to it, it sounds like the regular album version.

Check out the Beach Boys Starline website, the place for pictures of many countries Beach Boys releases on 45.

Purely a European decision.
