I'd say keep 'em short--no longer than, say, ten minutes. This is one I come back to again and again, the joyous party scene from the 2013 filming of The Great Gatsby:

Great idea!

Here's one of my favourite moments in a film. The video is good quality except for the sounds of someone turning up the volume in the first fifteen seconds:

I thought this was such a great adaptation of the book. It brought the vivid color (and the dark moments) of the novel to life. This is a great one to own on Blu Ray, btw.

This scene from the Spielberg film 'Empire of the Sun' is one of the most touching moments in cinema I've ever seen:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFrGtlLH1Fw

Set in a Japanese run Prison camp in WWII, this specific scene shows that humanity at their core, even two opposing sides at war, can appreciate a unified love of something otherworldly (in this case: flying). This movie is full of these little moments. Definitely a desert island film for me.

"Police Academy" franchise (& the greatest!):

1. Blanks & Copeland haircut scene, any scene with Hooks, Capt. Harris/ Proctor, "Blue Oyster" club scene, Fackler riding his car with his wife in house robe & hair curlers on car's hood.
2. Mauser/ Proctor, "Blue Oyster", Zed & the gang shoplifting, Mahoney disguised as bandit, Pete Lassard getting graffitied by Zed's gang, Schtulman's house, Jones making real helicopter noises by mouth, Tackleberry's girlfriend's Kirkland fam & his face witnessing his crazy future in-laws.
3. Entire chase scene near the end, Fackler's wife getting into his car & he driving with her...outside on hood (the 1st segment's vice versa scenario), Kirkland-Jr. hilarious boxing match, Zed/ Sweetchuck "Psycho" shower parody, karate lesson with Sweetchuck's tenny flying into Zed's mouth  Cheesy, the police car driving exam ft. Zed/Hooks, Jones/ Adams, Proctor/ Mauser, the rich guy in limo going to assign to the police academy, then asking Hightower, African strongest tallest officer, to carry his bags ("Hey porter" Cheesy), each Zed/ Sweetchuck (fight/ feud) scene, return of Blanks & Copeland, "Blue Oyster".

How about a little drama, a little humor and a little music -

This scene is from my third favorite film and I think it’s my favorite movie scene ever, with my favorite actress too:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yfuRGVgwpug&t=1s

Though the film it comes from is a talkie, this scene is a brilliant exercise in silent comedy:

I love classic musicals. Here is the queen of musicals, the greatest entertainer ever, doing what she did best:

I watched 2001: A Space Odyssey two nights ago on TV. The entire film is awesome beyond belief (I may just rate A Clockwork Orange a little higher) but the "Star Gate" sequence floors me every time, particularly when the diamond shapes loom into view. Roll Eyes

While Ferris Bueller's Day Off was a comedy, there was one particularly poignant scene that has stuck with me.

It can be found at "Ferris Bueller Museum Scene." The scene starts with a bit of a chuckle perhaps, while showing some of  my favorite paintings, and sculptures .
Then Cameron looks at a particular painting...

Says Director John Hughes:
"The closer he looks at the child, the less he sees. But the more he looks at it, there's nothing there. I think he fears that the more you look at him the less you see. There isn't anybody there. That's him."

Either film listed by either is boring.

I identify with that scene because I've had feelings such as that earlier in my life, and to tell the truth, every once in a while even now.
But I too enjoy the parade sequence.

In my opinion (and I know I'm not alone in this), Lawrence of Arabia is one of the best films ever made, if not the very best. It's full of stunning scenes, including this hilarious run-in with an echo: "You can rumpty tumpty tumpty tum!" Grin

"Lawrence" was on TV last night. I caught only the last third of it. It's hard watching it on my tiny TV.
It will be shown again on the Big Screen later this year in the US for a couple of days and I am looking forward to seeing it for the umpteenth time.

That was a funny scene. Another funny scene is when he dons the Arab robes for the first time then flits about on the desert sands but (oops) stops when he sees Anthony Quinn's character and son looking quizzingly at him.

Too many to list in "Rebecca" mini-series with Jeremy Brett. Beautiful picturesque poetic yet with freaky images adaptation.

I think that must be the first scene in this compilation by you-know-who:

Lucky you. I don't think I've seen it on the big screen since '63 or '64 or whenever I saw it first. I bought the OST a couple of years later as I loved the music. I'd really love to see it again in the cinema. One day...

Some significant scenes were cut from the version shown in the 60s. At least some were restored in the 90s when I first saw it.
One scene that was restored helped to explain part of the reason why Lawrence went along with the "no prisoners" shouts . The restored scene saw Lawrence coming upon a bunch of civilians the Turks had killed .
Anyway the process of restoration is interesting. In some cases the audio had been lost. Peter O'Toole had to redo those lines. Then they had to make his voice sound like it did back then (as it had been filmed 30 years previously).

Fascinating! The omission of the massacre of villagers sounds familiar. It was definitely there the first time I saw Lawrence in London. Yes, that must have been perplexing for those who hadn't seen the uncut film.

Actually this is from a TV show (as the OP I can takes liberties with my topic). Sherlock has to be one of the most magnificent detective series ever televised. And this excerpt doesn't even include the man himself! Andrew Scott almost steals the show from Benedict Cumberbatch with his hilariously ghoulish take on criminal mastermind Jim Moriarty. (The man asking us to subscribe is series co-creator Mark Gatiss, who also plays Sherlock's elder brother Mycroft.)

Jeremy Brett = the best Sherlock. List'll be:

1. Jeremy Brett (Benedict knew, there's vid with him talking about Jeremy's Sherlock characterization & just Jeremy generally)

2. Vasily Livanov (USSR)

3. Ronald Howard (Leslie Howard's son)
4. Robert Downey-Jr.
