On "Darlin'" , don't you think that on the "precious love hum hum..." part, it's Brian and not Carl? I hear Brian ,on this little part of the song. what do you think? (The same way, I hear Dennis on "I just wasn't made for this time", at the end of a verse)

Personally, I don't hear it. It sounds just like Carl to me.

Doubtful, but perhaps one of the wizards around here can create an isolated vocal track for it.

Already been done:

For the record, I can hear why mustomax might get the idea that it's Brian on that part, since it does kinda sound like his intonation/timbre, but this isolated vocals version clearly shows that the vocalist on that part is the same guy who sings the previous lines, and that's clearly Carl.

Thanks, Craig. I figured it had been done, but was in too much of a hurry to go look for myself.
All of which should remind us about what we've already noted: the genetic similarity of the Wilson brothers and how on various occasions, either singing or just talking, they sound like one another. For example, listen to Dennis at the end of his version of "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" from the U Mich concert in October '66--that little abashed voice saying "Thank you" sure sounds as if it could be Carl.

Well, the Wilson bros. sounded very much alike, which made for beautiful harmonies. Brian made a point of it, beautifully mimicking the others. I used to be better at knowing who was who - oddly, hearing their speaking voices regularly, but that was a long time ago and I lost that talent. At least it makes for good debates on message boards.

I've heard bits of Carl in Dennis's speaking voice, especially in pronunciations of the letter 'l".

Definitely all Carl on "Darlin'," and that's a good catch on "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times," although that one's all Brian. But when he sings "that I won't leave behind," he sounds uncannily like Dennis.
