Someone linked to Dennis'  ASCAP page in another thread and I found this title "Standard Lie #1" listed as a 50% co-write with Stella Parton (Dolly's sister).  Anyone know anything else about this? Doesn't have any of Dennis' songwriting earmarks to me at least....

There's another Dennis Wilson who is a country musician -- it's probably that DW.

Ah, that would make sense! Disregard then!

Not seeing anything online about the other Dennis. Active in the 70's I'm assuming.

Yeah. Had a '79 album called One Of Those People, IIRC.  Interesting that his middle initial must also be "C.".  There was also a British composer named Dennis Wilson, responsible for incidental music and sometimes the theme songs to such legendary series as "Steptoe and Son", "Meet The Wife", and "Faulty Towers". EDIT: Another was "My Wife Next Door" - and that one's also listed in the ASCSP database referenced above.

And the "country" Dennis Wilson is obviously the composer of another title on this database - "It Could Have Been Ten Years", recorded by The Oak Ridge Boys in '77. And, possibly another one listed here - "Wild Wild North West" (sic), of which no publisher is likewise listed.

One Of Those People was Dennis William Wilson.

The ASCAP database has this, and other works, incorrectly credited to "Dennis C. Wilson" ("our" Dennis), along with his IPI (Interested Party Interface) number. Wonder if that has any bearing on royalty collection for these numbers?

I remember how confused I was when I saw George Jones' "Still the same ol' me" album and the credit "Dennis Wilson" for background vocals.  LOL It became clear over the years and lots of other credits on country records though that it wasn't Beach Boy Dennis.

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.
