From looking at the Facebook in the last couple of days -- Paul, Darian and Jim of Brian's band are pictured (along with engineer Wes Seidman) working at United Recording.

No sign of Brian. But one does wonder what's cooking.

Brian's FB page yesterday showed him at the studio console, but no comment as to what was happening

On his instagram, a picture of Brian in the studio with a caption "Brian's in the studio" was posted.

The picture of brian in the studio was interesting for several reasons
1) there were big lights on C-stands like they were filming it for something
2) he was in the control room by the mixing board, not in the vocal booth (assuming there is one at whatever studio they were at)
3) didnt mention what the project was at all, maybe too early or something

Heres the pic from his instagram, in case you havent seen it

That's Studio A at Oceanway (aka United).

Mickey D'Amico also posted several pics from the studio. Seems like a real thing!

I really, really hope not. If he doesn't have his own originals, I actually would like to see an approach along the lines of what the Monkees' 2016 album was, with a bunch of songs written by admirers. I know NPP was along those lines in part, but I don't necessarily mean with guest spots--just songs. There are plenty of musicians who I'm sure would love to get tunes done by the master. If he arranged new tunes and recorded them with that band, I think it would be fantastic.

Really I just can't get excited by an album of oldies, even done by BW. I'd get it, of course, and I'm sure there would be nice moments. But I'm only really excited by new material: his, his with cowriters, or just other writers'. As long as he is involved in the arrangement and production decisions and has that band--and is into it--I think it would be fabulous.

Mostly agree.  Honestly I don't care for others writing BW's music for him unless they are collaborating together.  That worked out very well for his last album.  I also don't care for him doing a "covers" album.  Never really liked the Gershwin album and am pretty sure I have never listened to the Disney album in its entirety even though I own a copy.  Original music only, please...with or without other collaborators.
