Very sad news. I never saw Kraftwerk perform (I could have seen them in Amsterdam in 1976, no idea how or why I missed that). Actually, I also missed bumping into Florian Schneider (in theory) in Düsseldorf, as the infant JK moved away from there in 1949 and the infant FS moved in the next year.
This is the first track that came to mind when I heard the news. "Europe Endless" is from my favourite Kraftwerk album
Trans-Europe Express.
Möge er in Frieden ruhen.

I remember a few years ago when it really dawned on me that Kraftwerk is one of the most influential groups ever, since the end of the ‘70s and the dawn of the ‘80s saw many synthpop groups, most of them European, come to the fore on the basis of what Kraftwerk did before. Back when they did Autobahn, Kraftwerk was one of the few doing that sort of thing, but as with The Velvet Underground & Nico, the few that heard it were inspired to do something along the same lines. They blazed the path. Rest In Peace, Florian.

Wouldn't it be nice if we were older, then we wouldn't have to wait so long
And wouldn't it be nice to live together, in the kind of world where we belong?
