To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Thanks. I only did a quick google search, but I thought it would be nice to have some pictures.

Sad to hear but it looks like he passed peacefully, which is the best we can hope for.
RIP.

Major bummer.... now the classic 50s line-up of Elvis's band has gone the way of The Jimi Hendrix Experience and the original Ramones line-up

For those with Sirius XM, the Elvis channel (channel 19) is doing tributes today for Fontana. They've been playing some old recordings from the Louisiana Hayride, where Fontana was employed and how he met Elvis. There have also been interviews with him.
For those with DISH Satellite the Elvis Channel can be heard on channel 6019.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Scotty and D.J. released an album in the 90s called "All the King's men". Very cool album of new material. Here's the opener:

Levon Helm, Keith Richards, Scotty Moore, D. J. Fontana & The Band: Deuce & A Quarter

Edit:

D.J. Fontana, Elvis Presley's drummer, dead at 87

Rolling Stone also reports. And like so many of the current articles, it uses a picture from 1968, identifying Charlie Hodge as D. J.  Roll Eyes
