I asked this across the road but it won't do any harm to ask here too...

I've written the bits I know of the two mystery songs in B but they could be in any key.

The first (A) is something from the disco era or thereabouts. I thought it might by ABBA but I can't find it. It's medium paced with a four-on-the-floor feel and the line in question (which gives the shape rather than the actual notes) is played by horns or synth horns in octaves. It's right at the front of the song. I last heard this in the '90s.

The second (B) is a high guitar line--not as high as this perhaps, but pretty high--that returns like a chorus during the song. I thought it might be Mink/Willy DeVille (the lead voice is pretty low and it has a slightly Latin feel) but once again I can't find it. I last heard it a few weeks ago in the "grocery aisle".

I'd be extremely grateful for any help.

OK, I'm back with two more songs, this time on a no-name comp, that I can't identify. They sound like they're from the mid-to-late sixties...

One is in the key of D, in a lazy 4/4 with an electric 12-string intro accompanied by single chords. This is the opening verse:

"Sometimes I just can't help wonder
Why things are the way they are
Lightning before thunder, people often wonder
Why the moon can('t) be a star"

The second is in G and has a tempo akin to that of "Ticket To Ride":

"So you think you're in love
But wait a minute, baby, and hear my song
It may feel like love
But wait a minute, friend, you could be wrong"

All help gratefully accepted. :=)
