The music to Today and Summer Days were spread across so many generations of tapes.  Some tapes are missing, and others have parts that were directly recorded at mixdown and are therefore unavailable.  In some cases those elements were digitally "flown in" to the mixes.  I think these things must have presented the biggest challenges to remixing these albums.  With Pet Sounds, Brian had more tracks to work with, so this endless bouncing between 3 and 4 track tapes was subdued.  It gave Mark Linett so much less of a mess to reconstruct, and it shows in the final mixes.
