Fun Dysfunctional Harmonizing Families

As a BB fan and member of a dysfunctional family, I am always intrigued by imperfect families who share enormous musical talent,. I came across this performance of the Taylor siblings and was duly impressed. with that familial vocal blend. They've struggled, variously, with mental illness and addiction (the eldest brother, Hugh, since died as a result of alcoholism), yet capture a bit of, what Brian called, "the joy of life" in this offering. Enjoy.

They do sound good together! They seem to be taking what James did (and does) to another level with those stunning harmonies.
I'm not sure if Loudon, Rufus and Martha Wainwright can be described as belonging to a dysfunctional family. Anyway, only Martha and Loudon ever sang together on record and it's a dialogue----not one harmony in sight:

So much for my contribution to this topic.

Never heard that song - very nice. Yes, the Taylors sound terrific. I got a kick out of watching Livingston here - odd expressions/movements. I never knew, until several years ago, that he was James' brother, although I was aware of who Kate was and that she had cut a few albums. Big brother Hugh, according to James, was the most talented of the bunch, did make at least one album, but was never able to follow through because of the alcoholism. Livingston talks about how Hugh played the real big brother role, being protective and teaching him how to play guitar. The youngest, Alex, runs a B&B on Martha's\ Vineyard.
I suppose my real point was not families that were dysfunctional, ha ha, as we all are in some way, but to highlight the magic that
can happen when DNA produces the vocal blends.

Of course, John Cowsill's family story is not a pretty one. The more I learn about them, the more amazed I am at what any of them did manage to accomplish. Start the first video at 53:00 for a listen to what they did as kids, then listen to the mature harmonies as they put on a fund-raiser for their absent eldest brother, Bill. Bill was quite popular in Canada.

Why, I suppose so! Joe Jackson qualifies as a Bud Cowsill, who qualifies as a Murry Wilson. Here's a taste of their early family harmonizing:
