*hopes mods conveniently ignore this post until everyone has had an opportunity to download this* - edit; actually, does this even count as a boot? I've forgotten that so many have posted their Smile mixes like this and it wasn't an issue. Carry on :D

Well my day is now shot. Thanks sydsutcliffe! The titles of these tracks are making me giddy - it had been too long since someone did a great SMiLE mix and this looks like you've knocked it out of the friggin park!

Speaking of Parks, how did you do the 'Heroes and Villains Durrie Parks Acetate Reproduction'? Was there a description of this acetate floating around?

Thanks so much again, this looks like it was a labor of love, can't wait to dive in!

This looks amazing.  But -- and maybe I'm just an idiot -- I can't figure out a way to download any of this without also adding crapware like "EasyMovies Search."  Does anyone know how to download just the music?

I'm on a Mac and didn't get any of that, I think I have an ad blocker installed on my machine though. Perhaps install an ad blocker and try again?

You really should use a platform like Google Drive or Dropbox to share your files. Much safer for users.

sydsutcliffe, I really hope that you do use Google Drive, Dropbox or something similar.  It looks like you have some great stuff, but sites like Zippy Share are aggressively toxic.  Just the fact that they try to trick you into downloading things other than the file you want (by giving you at least three different download buttons) is bad news.

I clicked on all the download buttons and each took me to an ad, or a site to download software.

Dang, I just saw one download button. Pretty sure it’s an ad block thing, and I highly recommend anyone here who doesn’t have one definitely get one. Makes browsing the web a hassle-free experience. That being said, I do recommend OP use Dropbox next time.

@OP, man everything sounds so crisp and clear and beautiful. That sped up ‘Wonderful’ sounds so perfect! And given Brian sped up ‘Caroline No’ and was experimenting with sped up instrumentals at that time it is pretty plausible that he could’ve gone with this speed originally. Thinking about Murry recommending that Brian speed up ‘Caroline No’ got me thinking: did Murry ever visit the studio during the Smile sessions?

I swear ‘Good Vibrations’ has some really great moment where a vocal of Carl’s is drawn out in the background and flows seemlessly into his next line. Also the Heroes and Villains mix on the first disc is perfect! I couldn’t really get into the flown-in vocals in ‘Child’ but perhaps it’ll grow on me.

If it’s no trouble could you detail how you made this mix?

I haven’t listened to the entire thing but will keep listening over the next

Click the rectangular "download now" 3 times. First two times an ad will pop-up, just ignore those (Well, that's how it worked for me Smiley )

Kind of a gray area really. Gotta think this through. I may take my time though...

Looks great! Are you able to tell us which tracks are your own mixes and edits (helpful if I want to focus on stuff I haven't heard before)

Basically these are all my own edits & remixes - I excluded everything that has been released before. Of course there are a couple of tracks I didn't do too much with, apart from editing and eq-ing - but the one and only track I didn't work on was the mono 'GV Box Set' version of 'Wind Chimes' (and I thought about excluding this one also, but since it's an integral part of the alternate mono album I left it in). My own private version of this compilation set has some more tracks but I didn't want to include the stuff that every serious collector already has - also I didn't want to exactly double the stereo and mono tunes, which I could have done. For the most tracks I chose stereo over mono because I think that's what most people are looking for.

To everybody: if there really is SERIOUS trouble with blankety-blank zippyshare, I'll load it up somewhere else. It's strange, I never had any problems with that site (maybe they changed something??) and I chose it because it's free and very fast (I suffer from a very shitty internet-connection).
What is the best FREE file-sharing host? Where else can you just drag & drop the files in without signing up and/or paying?

Wow! An outstanding effort! Thank you so much for all your hard work and for sharing. And for all the notes you've included with disc 1.

I haven't listened to the whole yet, but dipping in, I think what you did with Child Is Father  (With Fly-Ins & A Cappella Outro) is very clever, though I'm personally not sure about the water fly-ins, they may grow on me, and how you got the a capella version of Surf's Up I can't imagine (though I did hear some of Brian's falsetto from the piano demo - nice!).

Brilliant stuff! And the sound is also amazing throughout!

Hey Syd many many thanks for sharing this. The download worked fine for me (quickly got past the slightly annoying ads). It will take me a while to familiarize myself with your work but first impressions are great - I really enjoy these experimental though "disciplined" reimaginings of Smile.

I think your edition could join those of Odeon, soniclovenoize, SMiLE A.D., and Jacob Borshard in the inner courts of my own Temple of music (the hypothetical BW-finished 1967 version sitting before the Holy of Holies of course).

Despite the official releases of 2011 (7 years ago - sheesh!), Smile is the gift which keeps on giving!

Thanks again,

If you use Firefox, just install the Adblock Plus extension, matter of seconds. Then the Ziggy site, as Rab said, will show you just one download button, the good one.
Thanks a lot, Syd!!!

Really digging your new version of Child Is Father. I wasn't sure about the Fly-Ins at first - especially the Water Chant vocals - but now I love it! Really fleshes out the track. I also love the bonus track - Row Your Boat. Excellent work. Really in keeping with the spirit of the sessions.

I managed to download something.  However, it comes up as RAR files.  Anyone have any ideas where I'm going wrong or what I need to do with the files? Thanks.

The notes included for disc 1, where you go through it track by track, are really informative. Do you have any notes on any of the other tracks?
