Could be they're just copying it (onto their hands) from a list that Carl prepared (on paper).

Thats a great guess, that might be it! I'd guess april-may 1974 since it has the following:

Coupe
Trader
Road

in a sequence. Fairly unusual spot to put little deuce coupe!
