Funny thing about this picture.  It's probably one of the few times in the late 80s where Mike is the LEAST ridiculous looking one in the picture.

Mike actually looks 80s cool.  Shocked Huh Smiley
There's such thing as "80s cool"? That's funny, given it's the worst decade fashion-wise.

I don't know.   I think the 1990s gave us guys wearing baggy jeans past their crotch with oversized tee shirts and backwards / sideways caps.   I'll take those bright 80s neons over that any day of the week.

Nothing racialized about that. Nothing at all.

It's impossible for me to equivocate on stuff like that "Wipeout" video; they all look ridiculous. Mike doesn't look any more or less ridiculous. It's all bad.

The "California Dreamin'" video was okay. Pretty much every other music video/promo film they did in the 80s and 90s was awful. The '85 videos were weird and goofy, and after that it quickly devolved into generic clip-jobs of beach or hot rod footage and unsynced b-roll concert footage smushed together, like "Rock and Roll to the Rescue", "Still Crusin", etc.

Nope.  It looks stupid no matter what color skin the person has.

We dissected this awhile back, and through pretty much all of the 80s and 90s, the BBs looked ridiculous most of the time with the notable exception (sometimes, still not always) of Carl. Full stop.

I find it largely just amusing, although I suppose at certain moments in their career it didn't help them a great deal and certainly hasn't helped their image age well. But it's mostly just goofy stuff.

But I can't, with a straight face, parse it to the point of saying the goofy 80s neon stuff looks better than anything else. Mike wearing any clothes is preferable to this:

But I can't say any of it is good, so it's kind of grasping as straws to say Mike in a big oversized puffy shoulder neon shirt in the 80s with the stupid baseball cap looks better than the picture above. Listening to "Summer of Love" is better than sticking my head in a vice too.

HJ,

I only made the comparison because in the Wipe Out video, Mike isn't wearing one of those Gilligan hats.  Of course, it's all pretty silly.

2KDS: Max Goof used to sport backwards/ sideways cap in "Goof Troop" (rmbr the 1990s cartoon series with cool rhythm theme song?).

Short notice: the cat you see to the left is the best. Not counting your indoor cat who might have habit sitting at your left side when you post at SmileySmile.

Who is Lucille Ball & Vivian Vance Duet Fan Club CEO? Btw, such Club exists?

Zany zealous Zeddie eats broccoli at brunch break but doesn't do's & don't's due to duties.

I only vaguely remember Goof Troop.   I was more of a Ducktales fan, and Huey, Dewey, and Louie wore their caps bills front.   Grin
