Don't know if this picture of Brian drumming with the band has appeared here before?

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Yeah, it comes up every couple of years but it's good to see it again!

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Despite the comments describing the situation, it looks to me as if Al is on bass (look at the machine heads on his guitar, then Carl's ).....Al is sporting bass...

Yeah, I agree. I believe that was also the role Al took over when David was still in the band and Brian didn't wanna tour.
And the picture is probably from '64.

Thanks, I have amended the comment on 45worlds to indicate Al on bass.

If the photo is academy of music then it is February 13 1965-other photos exist of this show which appeared in hit parader
