That's Eddie Carter on bass and Debbie Shair  from Brian's band. I just saw that the Miramar Florida show has been cancelled as well. This is such a shame there are only a limited number of shows anyway and already three of them canceled including one I was planning to attend in Philadelphia area. Great band Great Sound I guess difficult to get a market.

A buddy of mine was planning to go to the Patchogue NY show, but when he went to the site to purchase tix he said it looked like maybe only 100 had been sold. So rather than go thru the possibility fo cancellation and refund he decided to pass. So sad, such a great sounding band, I hope at least a few of these shows make it onto the scheduled performance.

First night of the tour in Bethesda tonight, very meat and potatoes set for Al. Deepest cuts were Postcard, Add Some Music, Wake the World and Sailor.

Al did mention in November there is a live box set coming out including the Carnage Hall show in November. Mentioned that when introducing Ed Carter. Great show but Al needs to do some deeper cuts! At least no Barbara Ann or Kokomo!!!

Interesting, find it strange that Wendy would you leave vocals on Sail on Sailor when Bobby is there and does a killer version of it. Maybe she only sang part of the song. Would love to see some of these videos wish they were posted somewhere

Re the meat and potatoes list, thats a bit disappointing since  Even though attendance and ticket sales are fairly low most of the people in attendance I think are hardcore fans who probably would prefer a deeper cut set list. Oh well at least they sound great.

According to setlist.fm, Wendy sang lead on “Sail On, Sailor.” That’s interesting, I expected Bobby to take that lead.

Regarding "Sail on Sailor", it may simply be that the Wilson sisters were more of a selling point for these shows, so they are featured as prominently as possible on leads. They are certainly more prominently advertised and featured in the show now than they were back in the 1998-2000 time frame, as they're not finally doing a few of their songs. Quite interesting they did "Monday Without You" from the "The Wilsons" album instead of another Wilson Phillips song (I'm guessing most casual folks don't know much beyond "Hold On").

Also, regarding setlist, I don't think these shows have ever been advertised as being heavy on deep cuts. In fact, this is kind of the opposite of a deep cuts show. It's being sold on featuring well-known Beach Boys songs and a few Wilson Phillips songs. This is more like Al's "All Star" band with BB and Wilson sisters tracks.

In an recent interview Al seemed hesitant to do non-hits, seemingly knowing this show is intending to attract casual fans who want to hear well-known stuff. It's sad and kind of inexplicable that the guy is nearly 80 years old and still seemingly afraid of the audience freaking out over hearing a track from a decade-old solo album, but that's what it is apparently.

Considering all that, such a show is going pretty deep to even include stuff like "Monday Without You", "Wake the World", "Add Some Music To Your Day", and "A Postcard from California."

Al posted "Monday Without Your" on Facebook, and it sounds really good and tight, especially for the first show out. Sounds like Matt does the Brian parts from the "Wilsons" record.

Wendy sang lead on Sail on Sailor. Bobby did not sing lead on anything. The set list posted looks correct, to my recollection. Will post more later.

There's something I really like about the Al show that you don't get from the rather bloated two other bands - just a few people on stage, just enough, working to fill the gaps. It sounds a hell of a lot better.

I really felt this when I saw them live in 2018. Even a looks-ordinary-on-paper run of songs was really lifted by the intimacy and freshness of it. You could really hear how instruments 'answered' vocal harmonies and vice versa.

Emdeeh, I agree. I also like that shows aren't nearly as bloated as some shows from the past. This almost sounds a bit unplugged, and focused on the vocals. I like it alot!

I see that Ritchie Cannatta showed up for the Long Island show, don't know if it was for a song or 2 or the whole show though. Would love to see Richie playing the Sax solo on Rhonda, looked liked they were rehearsing taht one from the IG clip I saw.

Went to the show in CT tonight ! The vocals and harmony were spot on! That blend still sounds so fresh like the late 90s. Too bad there aren’t more shows . The arrangements are really good . Al nailed the whole lead on Add Some Music ! Carnie did a beautiful GOK dedicated to Billy Carl and Dennis.  Got the obligatory lovable Al lyric Flub or two .  Only thing I would change is a few more songs . Was really hoping for Heroes or YSGTM , two classic Al live leads .

Excellent show at the Wall Street Theater last night. I agree with tpesky above. I had a blast and I even randomly met Evan Holly there last night – Evan is the kid who has appeared on Beach Boys Talk twice so far: once to review the Summer Days album, and he also appeared on the most recent 20/20 episode. He and his mother flew in just to attend the show and I randomly spotted him and we started talking for a bit. At one point as we were talking, Al’s wife Mary Ann walked past us and complimented our shirts – the three of us happened to be wearing custom made “Keep It Clean With Al Jardine” shirts. Evan’s and his mom’s shirts matched, but mine was of a completely different design. Al actually even saw my shirt mid-show and made a non-verbal gesture of recognition and acknowledgment of it to me (I was in the first row sitting right in front of him) and after the final bow he said to me “Keep on keeping it clean, man” to which I replied “Oh I definitely will!”  It was pretty cool!

Sonically everything was excellent, and I must say that all of the Wilson-Phillips songs were among the most impressive sounding of the night. Carnie and Wendy were in top form. I recorded a few videos for anyone interested, since I know this tour is limited in geographical scope and not everyone can go to one. Definitely go and see these shows live if you can:

Thanks for the videos, would have loved to seen their version of Impulsive, and Rhonda with Richie on Sax. Videos I saw and from what I've heard they sound great. Wish they had added some more shows.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Looks like at the San Juan Capistrano show last night, Al and band played Vegetables, Santa Ana Winds, Surf's Up and California Saga. That's a neat little run of deep cuts. Smiley
