I'm going to use this juncture to make a rather odd defense of Good Night.

There's no doubt it's about the cheesiest song you could imagine. Of course, it was deliberately so. However, I'm going to personally not vote for it until maybe the middle of the pack in this round for the following reason: It's a great example of Lennon and McCartney showing that, basically, they could write anything they wanted, and do a pretty darn good job of it. I'm sure if they wanted to write a good jazz piece, they could have done it. If they wanted to write a classical music piece, they could have done it (some of the Baroque Pop pieces on Pepper were just short of that). Good Night is so "out there" compared to most everything else they did it sort-of stands out as a piece saying to everybody, "Hey, look what we can do!" So, as bad as it is, it's actually kinda interesting for that reason.

Anyway, I'll vote for Sexy Sadie, too.

I'm with ya SMiLE-addict. I'm always reminded of Paul's cherished memory - listening to John sing 'Good Night' in the studio. Why didn't they record it? Would have been a great addition to the Anthology! Oh well.

Savoy Truffle.

I can't believe Long, Long, Long is out so early. It's one of my favorites from disc 2.

I’ve been out a while. What a weak bunch of songs.

I agree, by Beatles standards, the second disc of The White Album isn't exactly their finest collection of work.

The writing was clearly on the wall. This was the beginning of the end...

We are going to split the album in two, so round #11 is Disc 1 and round #12 will be Disc 2.

Quote
The Beatles, also known as the White Album, is the ninth studio album by English rock group the Beatles, released on 22 November 1968. A double album, its plain white sleeve has no graphics or text other than the band's name embossed,[a] which was intended as a direct contrast to the vivid cover artwork of the band's earlier Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Although no singles were issued from The Beatles in Britain and the United States, the songs "Hey Jude" and "Revolution" originated from the same recording sessions and were issued on a single in August 1968. The album's songs range in style from British blues and ska to tracks influenced by Chuck Berry and by Karlheinz Stockhausen.

On release, The Beatles received favourable reviews from the majority of music critics, but other commentators found its satirical songs unimportant and apolitical amid the turbulent political and social climate of 1968. The band and Martin have since debated whether the group should have released a single album instead. Nonetheless, The Beatles reached number one on the charts in both the United Kingdom and the United States and has since been viewed by some critics as one of the greatest albums of all time.

Using Wrightfan's line, 'gonna switch up' to "Cry Baby Cry". Hey Wrightfan, thanks to help vote off splendid "Honey Pie". "Switch up", my foot. Roll Eyes

Btw, really glad "Sadie" went away! Shoo shoo, back door. Smiley
