OK. I'm looking for little detaily things about the Beach Boys and Brian Wilson. So, I'm ending up at random BB-related things on the internet, some of which I find amusing or interesting or both. I've been putting them in "Random Questions" but they're piling up, so I thought I'd start a new thread for random BB-related internet junk, just in case someone's interested in little trivia but doesn't have as much time on their hands as I do right now.

Here's one that's strange and I found amusing:

While wandering around the internet looking for random crumbs about the Beach Boys, I came across Dale Reed, who says he built Dennis' Cobra and he had to go to Brian for the money. No more info in this thread, but he was apparently not professionally building cars at that time, so maybe he knew the Wilsons?
Has anyone met him, talked to him?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3332873/posts
He chimes in at post 18.

Another random little find, perhaps widely known, I don't know:
https://books.google.com/books?id=5-Nx8AUNAHIC&pg=PT159&lpg=PT159&dq=brian+wilson+fur+coat&source=bl&ots=DTIseaL-ZG&sig=7N-PClo4K5R6ibWM2KZkRYbHtCs&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CFgQ6AEwDmoVChMI5t_1jNiIyQIVQRU-Ch1yrw6Q#v=onepage&q=brian%20wilson&f=false

Brian Wilson attends an "all-night studio party" at which the Rolling Stones record "Goin' Home" during the second week of December '65.
One page earlier talks about the Stones attending the Dec. 4 acid test in San Jose. Brian Jones was tripping pretty much constantly at this time, with Keith Richards participating heavily.

I've done a search and not found this on the board, though I did see a few threads of people asking where they could find it (quite a while ago) -  so here's a link to Sean Lennon's interview of Brian Wilson. Sorry if it's already here somewhere.

Emily, you can post bare URLs. So you can fix the link by removing the [img] tags.

I miss the days when I had time to trawl the web for this kind of thing! Hope you're enjoying the adventure Emily!

Thanks. I must've accidentally clicked image instead of hyperlink. Good to know I don't need to do either!

It's quite alright. I'm sure I sound much ruder than I intend 90% of the time.  Undecided

From this site (https://theamazingkornyfonelabel.wordpress.com/2013/04/12/3626-the-beatles-l-s-bumble-bee/),
Dudley Moore and Peter Cook recorded LS Bumblebee to mimic the Beach Boys sonically rather than the Beatles. The site quotes Dudley Moore:

Dudley Moore wrote a letter on 15th December 1981 in which he said:

"Regarding “The L.S. Bumble Bee”, Peter Cook and I recorded that song about the time when there was so much fuss about L.S.D., and when everybody thought that “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” was a reference to drugs. The exciting alternative offered to the world was L.S.B.!, and I wrote the music to, in some ways, satirize the Beach Boys rather than the Beatles. But I’m grateful if some small part of the world thinks that it may have been them, rather than us !”

The vocals are way off and just way too English mod, but the instrumental arrangement and the very occasional vocal flourish are Pet Sounds-like and at times even Smilesque (or Smiley Smilesque).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GvkyxzqqIc

eta, if you follow the link on the site, you will get the whole album of sessions on youtube. If you're a beatle fan, you might enjoy it.

In this Beatles press conference from August 1966, at 5:40, Paul McCartney tries really hard to get "Beach Boys" heard.
Also, note a pre-mustache David Crosby lurking by the curtain stage right.

I was reading this for a completely un-Beach Boys-related reason when I came across this:

"He hated dealing with some of the people like [Brian Wilson's father] Murry, who he found extremely manipulative."
