I’ve come to realize that Mike may have inadvertently goofed when he did his Smokey the Bear voice impression in the song “Drive In”.

Here’s a direct timecode link to quickly reference Mike’s impression on “Drive In”:

Now’s where it gets weird. Mike was possibly inadvertently channeling Bullwinkle the Moose, which of course was years later often voiced/parodied by Mike’s future Full House costar, Dave Coulier:

Here’s a 1959 Rocky and Bullwinkle commercial, with a direct timecode link to Bullwinkle’s original voice:

And here’s a 1960 Smokey the Bear PSA, which links straight to the “Only you can prevent forest fires” part:

I’d say that Mike sounds way more like Bullwinkle/Dave Coulier than Smokey, who he was apparently trying to mimic. Besides the fact that I clearly have too much time on my hands, what does everyone else think?

Interesting take.

Still not as much a stretch as the thread using "California Girls" as an example why Brian Wilson was right to sever ties with Mike Love.

Perhaps I put too much faith in atmosphere

Hailing from Yurp, I'm blissfully unaware of the difference between these two mammals. Cool Guy
