Again, it just makes me wonder why this album wasn’t more popular. Besides the incredible harmonies, beautiful instrumentals, and cool subject matter that makes you picture a blue planet, the MIX on this song is one of the things that stands out most of all. You can hear everything in this track: Carl sounds so crisp, the chimes/bells pop, the bass is deep, the guitars just right, the harmonies envelope the whole thing.

It’s the first Beach Boys song that sounds like it is four dimensional.

5 - long-time favorite since 2010. "Each line - each Beach Boy" fits very well. It wouldn't fit the other bands with just single-2 good singers. But BBs is band where everybody sings very well. Esp. Al & Brian.

Btw, glad to see "This Whole World" to get 2 4's. Yahoo! Smiley

2. What's gospel for? I didn't like it in Rolling Stones' "Salt Of The Earth" - it ruined good song. Then here. Vocal arrangement is banal "repeat the Dennis lead" which, btw, not bad.

I love it. It might not be a masterpiece but that doesn't matter. It's catchy and lusty and rockin' and has some very creative background vocals. Works for me! FIVE!

As matter of fact, "Deirdre" is song I really liked when I listened to Sunflower 1st time around - along with "At My Window" & "Add Some Music To Your Day". But, whilst these 2 keep staying favorites, "Deirdre" doesn't. 3 (btw, can I ask - why you folks keep quoting Watamushi's today's song post? Can't you just comment? My favorite song by Bruce. I really love playing this one on the guitar. Every time I listen to the song I think about the chords...D, G, D, G, D, Bm, C, A, A7.....anyway, yeah this is definitely worthy of a 5 vote. Great stuff.
