I think I prefer this version. I heard it first, of course (in 1967----I'd have to wait another 40 years to hear the Smile version).

It's more laid back, with less of the kitchen sink. I love the little jump in the bass at the word "jump".

I love it. I remember my reaction when I first heard it all those years ago. I thought it sounded so spooky and different and daring. I always loved bizarre psychedelic stuff. I used to include FBABTW on mixes that had Arthur Brown, Syd Barrett, Mother Of Invention...

And Little Pad? 4.5 (rounded down to 4). One of my favorites. Love it!

Btw, while it's been mentioned before, Little Pad was prominently featured after the opening credits of the 1/20/17 Hawaii 5-0 episode 'Ka Laina Ma Ke One' [S7:E14].

It's less forceful than the Smile version, and I love the spooky air in the song. A very beautiful end tag too.

Love both versions, but the Smiley Smile one has an eerie quality to it. It's almost like it comes from a fairy dimension. I love it when songs go otherworldly.

Aside from the two earlier singles, this was the first track from SS I ever heard----on French radio one late night in 1967
I was stunned. My thoughts at the time were that The Beach Boys were right up there at the forefront of avant-garde pop.
