Whether on the official set or BWPS, I just love this track for being so off the well worn trail. 4/5 for me.

Today's song is Barnyard.

I love Barnyard. And even though I love the version from The Smile Sessions, I find myself going back to the lo-fi sound of the boots without the lyrics for some reason. That short one minute of Smile has always fascinated me. I have to give it 5.

I think Al sings better than anyone who was produced by Phil Spector during 62-66―maybe except Tina Turner.

Replace "maybe except Tina Turner" with "except Darlene Love" and I think I agree.  Grin

Oh, and that's a five for the wonderfully downhomey "Barnyard"...

Today's song is The Old Master Painter/You Are My Sunshine.

A brilliant arrangement of both tunes. Oh, that BW!

Today's song is Cabin Essence.

More goshdarn proof of Brian's genius. This must've blown the roof off people's heads when they first heard it at the end of 20/20. It certainly blew the roof off mine.

Wonderful

FIVE

I love Brian's beautiful crystalline vocal on the version from Smile. I also love the weird spooky version from Smiley Smile with Carl's vocal. My favorite though is the "walk with me henry" version. I really dig the fuzzy bass on that one. It's all wonderful to me

I just scrolled through about 40 different Wonderful videos on youtube and couldn't find it. I have it one of my boots. Brian (at least I think it's Brian) sings "ah-wowm pretty baby wontcha walk with me henry" over the music. And then at one point says "I need a drink of water". And it's got a real cool fuzz bass sound on it, as well as an upright bass, harpsichord, mandolin and jazzy drums which sound like their being played with jazz rake brushes. Real cool stuff!

It's really Brian during "walk with me Henry"? I hear "I need some water man".

OK. Thanks for taking the trouble, Mike. It may turn up there some time----I'll keep an eye/ear out for it.
