Hi everyone!
I tried to register here several times and I finally made it! I'm a new fan and in the last year or so that I spent lurking I learned A LOT (and I've also had some fun) so thanks for that. I hope to spend a good time here
Bye for now!

G'day, Silken. I've got question - who is in your ava? Is it juggler & some dog sits beside? Did you insist on that picture? You like vintage circus?
Hello RangeRoverA1,
It's an illustration called "Juggler of universes" by French illustrator and caricaturist Grandville. Queen used it (with some modifications) for their "Innuendo" album cover.

It's a very recommended read for everybody who doesn't hate good well written novels, high adventure, and/or rabbits.
It's impossible to forget the heroic rabbits of Watership Down, or the extraordinary villain, Gen. Woundwort. Icing on the cake, the invention of a surprisingly serious (and often uncanny) rabbit mythology, and one of the best imaginary languages ever, Lapine.
Pity that the late Mr. Adams was never able to replicate that halcyon moment in his following novels. He returned to Watership Down only with "Tales from Watership Down", a collecton of stories featuring the same characters.

Watership Down is not just a book but a real place, just a few miles from where I live. So welcome from Baughurst too!

I had googled and found the book so I thought it was a fictional place. Nice!

I also recommend Richard Adams' Girl in a Swing if you can find it (out of print). It is erotic in parts but incorporates some myth for a very strange but compelling story. The tale begins in a real 18th century place in Newbury that - amazingly - they pulled down (in real life) to put up a McDonalds. There's a film based on it too.

Thanks, Ang. I had forgotten to mention that Watership Down is a real place too, and a very nice one it seems. You live near it? So cool!
I like Girl in a Swing a lot, probably the best thing Richard (enough of "the late Mr. Adams") wrote outside of Watership Down. I read Girl in a Swing three times (Watership about six). It's a great novel, maybe just a bit too dark and gloomy for me. One pivotal scene is pure horror, on the level of the scariest Stephen King.
