Welcome back to the fight to survive!

THE TOPPERMOST OF THE POPPERMOST!!!

Quote
Help! is a 1965 album by the Beatles, and the soundtrack from their film Help!. Produced by George Martin, it was the fifth UK album release by the band, and contains fourteen songs in its original British form. Seven of these, including the singles "Help!" and "Ticket to Ride", appeared in the film and took up the first side of the vinyl album. The second side contained seven other releases including the most-covered song ever written, "Yesterday".

Spotify link to the whole album: https://play.spotify.com/album/0PT5m6hwPRrpBwIHVnvbFX

Attempts to toss off the top single before the final three has failed. (14 votes)

TTime to Hide Your Love in the closet folks.

FINAL ROUND.

That means you vote for which of the remaining 3 tracks is your FAVORITE!!!

Vote tally will be on March 4.

Help!
Ticket To Ride
Yesterday

Round#1 It's Only Love February 3
Round#2 Dizzy Miss Lizzy February 5
Round#3 You Like Me Too Much February 8
Round#4 Act Naturally February 10
Round#5 Tell Me What You See February 13
Round#6 Another Girl February 17
Round#7 I Need You February 19
Round#8 The Night Before February 21
Round#9 You're Going To Lose That Girl February 23
Round#10 I've Just Seen A Face February 27
Round#11 You've Got To Hide Your Love Away March 1

Okay. The end of the road. Time to choose the SURVIVOR.

Yesterday is kind of overshadowed by the hype. Someone said it's like voting for the Smithsonian.

I sat down at my piano and decided to play each one and whichever one yielded the most enjoyment was going to be my pick

HELP! (Does my vote count if I played it on the piano like the Deep Purple version?)

All apologies to the great Paul McCartney, who already had to deal with being shrunk and almost crushed by Ringo during the HELP! movie, my vote goes to.....

The title track to the album and the film

HELP

And I love Deep Purple's version too, and apparently, so did John Lennon.

I think it was closer to Lennon's vision of the song,  for sure.

The music of the Purple version definitely matches the lyrics better.  Plus, a great Ritchie Blackmore solo.

Tough one, since they're all stone-cold classics....

Have to go with the (so far) majority though and vote Help!

Deep Purple is boring band with boring songs, don't care to listen to their covers. Anyway, hooray! 3D 3D 3D I really, big time, disagreed with those of you foolishly voting off "Yesterday", one of the best songs ever. I never get tire of it, it sounds fresh when they play it by radio etc. If you're tired - big deal. I'm very happy that it made it to the finals. Who cares, hit singles-not hit singles. What's the problem. It would be reaaaally bizarre if inferior boring "You've got to hide" made to final round.

That said, Adult Child asked me about Top 5 Beatles & I listed "Help" among them. So, "Help" should be winner.

One word I can say I've never heard to describe Deep Purple is boring.

Consider this my unpopular music opinion (I know you started thread at PS :D).

Probably not an overly unpopular opinion among Beach Boys fans (not liking Purple).

This is true, especially outside of the US.

That said, Adult Child asked me about Top 5 Beatles & I listed "Help" among them. So, "Help" should be winner.

That was an interesting list, I forgot to mention.

It was the first Beatles single longer than 3 minutes, and the first one with Paul playing lead guitar. Ian MacDonald called it "psychologically deeper than anything The Beatles had recorded before." John Lennon called it "one of the earliest heavy metal records....pretty phucking heavy for then." But none of these things have anything to do with why I'm choosing it; I'm choosing it because it still sounds just as exciting as when I first heard it as a kid, even more than the other two choices.

I just got a ticket to ride myself, I'm heading over to Rubber Soul. I will see you all there.

Hmm. Ticket to Ride should have gone a while ago IMO. So that's not what I'm gonna vote for obviously.

It's tempting to vote for Yesterday, not necessarily because it's my favorite song on the album, but because it's arguably the most important song on the album, being the song that made the adult market start paying attention to the Beatles (my own father has told me he didn't pay attention to the Beatles until they came out with Yesterday). On the other hand I think I like Help better. So I'll go with that.

Ticket to Ride for the win? I contributed absolutely nothing to this thread until now, so I don't even know if my vote counts, but there it is  LOL

oh darn! I do that every time, sorry about that.
I really like ticket to ride, for the drum pattern, vocals and guitar playin.
but I think Yesterday has to be the winner.  Great lyrics, great string arrangement.
it's a perfect song.
